Listen to and vote for your favorite short postcard story at Three Below – everything from mini stories (true or false), love letters, rants, apologies, promises, survival tips to sexcapades will be heard. Two winners will be announced: the Critics’ Choice Award and the Audience Choice Award. A reigning champion from each of these categories wins $250! Following the readings 8 p.m., the irrepressible storyteller, Ivan E. Coyote, entertains and enchants with her humorous words, persuasive voice and intuitive observations of everyday life from her hometown in the Yukon to the big city.
Literary Leanings: February 18th – 20th
From the farthest reaches of Canada, to the innermost reaches of the psyche, Literary Leanings brings together a stellar line-up of national literary celebrities. Guest authors include Noah Richler, Warren MacDonald, Ivan E. Coyote, Anna Lapointe, David Gilmour, Stephen Vogler, Lisa Richardson and Sara Leach, along with poets, Jude Goodwin, Tamsin Miller and Katherine Kerr. During this three-day event of literary festivities, audiences are treated to live readings along with appetizers and beverages.

A fancy New Year’s extravaganza, complete with cocktails, live entertainment, a DJ, champagne, and tasty snacks. Stories by Ivan Coyote, and songs by the bravest banjo player ever to escape from Alberta, Rae Spoon, and the Yukon’s own Kim Barlow and Kim Beggs. A night to dress up, see a show, and spend time with your favourite folks at midnight. Tickets available at the door only, so come early. The Guild Hall, Whitehorse, Yukon. Doors at 8pm, show at 9pm. Dancing begins just before 2007 does, with DJ Double D. Tickets are $20, and seats are limited.

This gig is part of the Vancouver Comedy Fest. Storytellers Ivan Coyote and Richard Van Camp, poet extraordinaire Shane Koyczan, and musical guest the one and only Veda Hille. This show is a must see. Funny heartaches flavoured by three wordsmiths born and raised in Canada’s true north: Ivan was born and raised in Whitehorse, Yukon, Shane hails from Yellowknife, N.W.T., and Richard is from Fort Smith, N.W.T. Veda is from Vancouver, but has spent alot of time up north and has written many a beautiful song inspired by her time there.
